At the New Bath Hotel and Spa, we’re proud to offer a warm welcome to all our guests, including your beloved canine companions! Nestled in the heart of Matlock Bath and surrounded by stunning countryside, our location is perfect to enjoy scenic strolls and outdoor adventures with your dog.

To help you make the most of your stay, we’ve curated a list of beautiful walks and helpful information, ensuring you and your dog enjoy every moment.

Our Dog Policy

A selection of our rooms are dog friendly. To book or check availability, please contact the hotel directly. A charge of £20 per dog, per stay will apply. A maximum of two dogs allowed per room. Pets are permitted in all common areas of the hotel apart from the breakfast room.

Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs and ensuring they are well behaved throughout their stay. The hotel accepts no liability for dog related incidents.

We want your dog to feel right at home during your stay with us. Water bowls are provided for your convenience, however, we kindly ask that you bring your dog's own bed as nothing beats the comfort of their favourite spot to curl up in. We also request that you bring your own dog food to ensure your dog sticks to their regular diet and stays happy and healthy whilst staying with us at the New Bath Hotel and Spa.

Cromford Canal

Start at Cromford Mill (DE43RQ), which is the first cotton mill set up by Sir Richard Arkwright  and for a short trail, walk to High Peak Junction (DE4 5HN) or if you prefer a longer trail, walk to the beautiful village of Whatstandwell (DE4 5HG). Derwent Gardens (DE4 3PW) is a grade II listed formal park and garden which is perfect for a peaceful stroll with your furry friend. Please note that dogs must be kept on leads at the gardens. 

Matlock Bath

Visit the historical spa town of Matlock Bath, start at Jubilee Bridge (DE4 3NS) and walk the 'Lovers Walk'.

Derwent Gardens

A grade II listed formal park and garden which is perfect for a peaceful stroll with your furry friend. Please note that dogs must be kept on leads at the gardens. 

Dog Friendly Tourist Attractions

The Heights of Abraham

DE4 3NT - The Heights of Abraham allow visitors to take their dogs with them on the cable cars. We recommend walking the 'Waggy Tails Trail' once you have reached the top.

Crich Tramway Village

DE4 5DP - The home of the National Tramway Museum, set up as an edwardian village with old fashioned shops. The village welcomes dogs on leads, provided owners keep their dogs well behaved and clean up after them. Dogs are not permitted in the cafe or indoor children's play areas, but are able to go everywhere else including  on the floor of the lower decks of trams! 

Cromford Mills

DE4 3RQ - The mills were built in 1771 by Sir Richard Arkwright, and were the world's first successful water-powered cotton spinning mills and the cornerstone of the Industrial Revolution. Dogs are welcome in the visitor centre and the mill yard.
